Not exactly earth-shattering news at this point, but for the first time news about current UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre defending his belt against Thiago Alves at UFC 100 is coming from the mouth of the big man himself, Dana White, president of the UFC. Here’s what he told Montreal-based CKAC Sports 730AM:
“I’m pretty confident that UFC 100 will have Georges St. Pierre on the card. UFC 100 will more than likely have Georges St. Pierre defending his welterweight title.”
Accoding to MMA Weekly, White also confirmed that the promotion’s 100th …

As reported yesterday, UFC 97 set for April in Montreal, Canada has hit a major snag. According to the Quebec Athletic Commission, the event cannot go on unless the UFC accepts some significant rule changes, most notably doing away with elbows and knees, fighting in a smaller octagon, and stopping the fight whenever a fighter falls to the ground. Needless to say, that’s the kind of news that will cause Dana to set all kinds of F-bomb records.
So what’s the UFC to do? There have been talks about cancellation, and …

It looks like GSP is ready to face Thiago Alves and is just as scared about the fight as I am.

Recently Thiago has manhandled Karo Parisyan, Josh Koscheck and Matt Hughes….let’s hope GSP changes his recent run.

“Oh, man. Holy s**t. I’ve told everybody, when people asked me before the B.J. fight, ‘I can’t even think about UFC 100 right now.’ Now we’ve sat down and we’ve talked about it, and I’m guaranteeing you now, UFC 100 is going to kick f**king ass.”

The Mandalay Event Center is located in the Mandalay Bay Casino. Its in the heart of Las Vegas on the strip and will play host to UFC 100.
The arena itself seats 12,000 individuals along with the Octagon, Dana White, Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg. This will be the first time the UFC has been at the Mandalay Bay Event Center since UFC 86 when Forrest Griffin beat Quinton “Rampage” Jackson for the UFC lightheavyweight belt.

Recently on the Sherdog radio show Thiago Alves indictated that he would in fact face Georges “Rush” St-Pierre or GSP as most people call him. To me this is a pretty dangerous fight for Georges early. Thiago Alves will come into UFC 100 weighing somewhere around 195 pounds and posses plenty of ammunition to be troubling for Georges if he can not get the takedowns going early.
We will keep you posted on the matchups for UFC 100 as they come in.
