It looks like Mike Swick and Cain Velasquez are going to not be involved in UFC 100. Both fighters mentioned that they are targeting participating in UFC 99 from Germany.
A lot of people on the internet want to see Cain Velasquez fight someone note worthy like Kongo or Carwin, but the reality is the UFC is marketing this guy. They want him to amass a lot of wins so the fans get fired up to see him before giving him an opponent that could beat him. I …

In gearing up for UFC 100 on July 11th where Georges St-Pierre will meet his toughest test in Thiago Alves I think it is time we examine where Thiago came from and what wins have lead him to be the Number 1 contender in the UFC Welterweight Division.
Thiago on fight night will come into the ring at 190 to 199 pounds. Now you may wonder how in the hell can he fight at the 170 pound division but come in the night of the fight at 199 pounds. Well Thiago …

Not exactly earth-shattering news at this point, but for the first time news about current UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre defending his belt against Thiago Alves at UFC 100 is coming from the mouth of the big man himself, Dana White, president of the UFC. Here’s what he told Montreal-based CKAC Sports 730AM:
“I’m pretty confident that UFC 100 will have Georges St. Pierre on the card. UFC 100 will more than likely have Georges St. Pierre defending his welterweight title.”
Accoding to MMA Weekly, White also confirmed that the promotion’s 100th …

It looks like GSP is ready to face Thiago Alves and is just as scared about the fight as I am.
“Thiago Alves, no doubt, is the biggest challenge of my career,” St. Pierre told Sherdog.com in an exclusive video interview. “He has done stuff nobody has done before. It’s going to be a very, very tough fight.”
Recently Thiago has manhandled Karo Parisyan, Josh Koscheck and Matt Hughes….let’s hope GSP changes his recent run.
One thing everyone needs to keep in mind is Jon Fitch actually stopped Thiago Alves in 2006 at …

“Oh, man. Holy s**t. I’ve told everybody, when people asked me before the B.J. fight, ‘I can’t even think about UFC 100 right now.’ Now we’ve sat down and we’ve talked about it, and I’m guaranteeing you now, UFC 100 is going to kick f**king ass.”

Expectations couldn’t be higher for UFC’s centennial event, thanks to the legions of rumors already swirling the event still five months away. Some of the rumored matchups appear to be virtual locks (see Georges St-Pierre v. Thiago Alves), …

Recently on the Sherdog radio show Thiago Alves indictated that he would in fact face Georges “Rush” St-Pierre or GSP as most people call him. To me this is a pretty dangerous fight for Georges early. Thiago Alves will come into UFC 100 weighing somewhere around 195 pounds and posses plenty of ammunition to be troubling for Georges if he can not get the takedowns going early.
We will keep you posted on the matchups for UFC 100 as they come in.
